Chinook welcome in the fall season

There are a few early migratory salmon making their way up the rivers now. These wanderers always are the flag bearers for my favorite time of year, the fall.

I had the opportunity to get out fishing this evening with a good friend of mine. While there aren't a ton of fish up the streams just yet-the ones that are here appear to be large. We did manage to bring a few to the net.   Hopefully tidings of more big fish to come!

Every year I get reminded of just how awesome of a fish, and what an epic battle they can put up when I get my annual schooling from one of these bad boys.

Fishing the Muskegon is always an adventure. The biomass is incredible, and some days you just don't know what you will catch next. In the last few days, we've landed no less than 9 different species of fish. Some more insignificant, like the rock bass and gobie, only to catch a northern pike or walleye a few casts later. It makes for an interesting day on the water for sure.
