El nino or la nina, I don't care what you call it--it's laaa nice! This unseasonably warm weather coupled with the lack of snow means good fishing. Water temps are still in the mid thirties, and the fish that we are catching are acting more like fall fish than typical winter steelhead. The fights have been outstanding! Here are a couple of shots from a short venture I took this afternoon.
The biggest story of the day unfortunately was the big one that got away. One of the largest steelhead that I have seen in a couple of years came unpinned about ten feet from the net. If I only had someone to maneauver the boat...... oh what might have been. Easily upper teens, maybe twenty lbs. Good news, he's still there and we will meet again.
Obligations have kept me off the water much of the last week, but we should be out quite a bit during this nice stretch of weather. I have a day maybe two left available during the next week of forecasted nice weather if anyone wants to get out before winter finally gets here.
